I'm leaving on my mission! A few details and descriptions

I leave this Wednesday to serve an 18-month full-time mission for the LDS Church in HONG KONG!  I'm very excited to be spending my days contacting people and teaching them about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My mission is a Cantonese-speaking mission, so I'll be going to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, UT first, where I'll spend about 12 weeks learning Cantonese, getting teaching training, and studying the scriptures. After that I'll travel to Hong Kong to actually start working there. My mission starts when I report to the MTC, which means that I will be following all of the mission rules. These rules include only communicating by letter to friends (email is reserved for family only, sorry), so I wanted to be sure to post my address here. However, if you ever want to hear how I'm doing, my mom will be putting excerpts from my letters to my family here so you can see what I'm up to. The main reason I'm putting my address here is because I would love to hear from YOU because you all mean a lot to me. I don't take it for granted that I happen to know so many excellent people :)

 My MTC address:

Sister Sarah Evelyn Nielsen
MTC Mailbox # 113
CHN-HK 1130
2005 N 900 E
Provo, UT 84604-1793

If you want to write me for FREE while I am at the MTC, you can use www.dearelder.com which offers same-day delivery of letters to the Provo MTC.

After I leave for Hong Kong, you can probably use my mission office address until I know a more specific address. The mission office address:
Sister Sarah E. Nielsen
China Hong Kong Mission
18 Dorset Crescent
Kowloon Tong
Kowloon, Hong Kong

A mission involves a very busy schedule and a lot of focus, hence the rules about communication. Along those same lines, I'm not able to meet up with any friends who travel to Hong Kong. My missionary companion (who will be teaching with me) and I will be too busy for that, no matter how much I'd love to see you. However, I know that serving a mission completely wholeheartedly will lead to more good things that I could imagine. I will miss all of you, but I am so happy to be taking this time to teach God's children about His love for them and about the joy available because of Christ's Atonement for us. I've seen these truths change the lives of those around me, and more importantly, they've changed my own life for the better. My purpose as a missionary is to invite others to come unto Christ and change their own lives, and eternities, as well.

If you still have any questions about this, feel free to look up mormon.org for more info. Or, hey, you can ask my family (they're nice people).

See you all in 18 months!

Love,

Sister Sarah Nielsen
