Hello Beautiful family!
I love you all. Immensely. Thank you for sending me your news. . . .
Well, I have very little time left to write, but I just want to
give you all the recap of the week. Today was a special day because we
had a fun zone activity. We went to this island called Cheung Chau and
had a scavenger/treasure hunt thing. The island is very small, so we
split up into teams and had to take pictures of our whole team at
various locations on the island. Once we finished that we could open an
envelope telling us where the treasure was. We enjoyed our time
exploring the island and are now thoroughly tired and happy. It was
truly a beautful and peaceful little island, so it was refreshing beyond
expression.
It seems like lately we've had a lot of trips because of the
holiday. This Monday we went with another ward to a trip thing to pick
strawberries and kill time at this "farm" in the New Territories. It is
funny to see the definition of farm here. It is really a holiday-ing
location with tons of people and is a very commercial affair. We went
with one of our investigators, Wun Ying, who is 15 and kinda quiet, but
very awesome. A very easy-going personality. The way things went,
though, my companion ended up feeling really sick a little bit into the
activity, so she went with a member and I went with another and she went
to go rest for a bit. This gave me a really good opportunity to improve
my Cantonese and to get to know this investigator better. Really, after
that day, my Cantonese improved faster than it has in a while.
Miracles, truly.
However, my comp. has continued to feel sick this week, so we've
had to take things easy. She gets really stressed really easily, so it's
my job to try to help her relax and not get too unhappy. I really hope
she gets better soon. We called the mission doctor and he thinks it
might actually be stress-related, so we're going to try to keep things
relaxed. It's kinda hard, but I'm sure we'll overcome. Also, this is
giving me more opportunities to teach during lessons and to help plan
things, so it's really a blessing. Also, it's a chance to serve my comp
so she knows that I actually very much care about her. So it's going to
be for our good.
The last thought for the day is that Cantonese and I have a
love-hate relationship. It's ridiculous. and ridiculously wonderful. Too
few phonemes (it all sounds the same!) and yet so very cool-sounding. I
am grateful that I'm understanding and speaking so much better than
before. But, yes, we still have a ways to go.
So, the exciting thing coming up is the new missionaries coming in
next week. We know them from the MTC, and it's exciting to think that
they'll be here soon.
Well, I'm out of time.
I love you all! The gospel is true!
Love,
Sister Nielsen
