It's beginning to look a lot like Springtime...

Which means that things suddenly went from cold and humid to very warm and humid! Which is an exciting change except that it means that the mosquitoes are all out now, and our poor legs are getting eaten alive. Ah well, I will wear more bug spray.

But, Hello Everyone! Family, I love you. So very very much. You mean so much to me.

So, I am doing pretty well here in Hong Kong, and our investigators are doing better, too.

As for Wun Ying, her mother still hasn't let her come to church, but she'll let Wun Ying meet with us, which is good. We will see her tomorrow, and we hope to be able to find a time to meet with her mother soon, and to bring the YW president with us as well. Anyway, the prayers go on, but I think that Wun Ying is doing better than before.

And as for our other investigators, do you remember Jasmine? Well, she now has a baptismal date for April 15th! She is a very rational, very quiet college student, and she is really good friends with Penny (which has helped her a lot. Good old Penny). She knows that God is real and that the Book of Mormon is true, she's just been a little afraid to commit to things. But, last time we saw her, we gave her this baptismal date and she felt really really good about it. It's kinda like her fears have just started to melt away. Only faith can make that happen, and it's obvious that she's been developing that faith. Her dad is in the hospital with some serious illness, and I think she's been thinking about these important questions for a while.

Also, we have another baptism this Sunday! Vina, the energetic 14 year old will be baptized on Sunday. She was our New Year's miracle - we started teaching her when everyone else was busy celebrating the New Year and unavailable. It's been amazing to see her change :)

Now, as for one other small miracle, we had an amazing lesson this week with Ng Jimuih. She's a less active who has been meeting with us missionaries for ages, but still doesn't come to church. She was baptized back when she was little and never really figured out for herself what she really believed. BUT, we found her former YW leader in the ward (definitely arranged by Heavenly Father, but that's a long story) and invited her to teach with us. We met at the church with this YW leader and Ng Jimuih (normally we go to Ng Jimuih's house) and talked about the Restoration through Joseph Smith and watched a short video clip about it. Afterwards, when we asked Ng Jimuih about how she felt, she started crying! Normally she doesn't really have any big emotions about anything we teach. We found out that Ng Jimuih feels strongly that she needs to be doing the things she was taught when she was younger, that she knows that what she's been doing isn't right and that she needs to put in her effort. Then we asked this former YW leader how she felt, and SHE started crying! We were pretty much all crying by then, you know. This sister said that she feels a little bit like a failure for not helping Ng JM figure out the reason behind all these commandments. And that made Ng JM cry even more and explain that it was her choice not to follow. And so then we had a little discussion about repentance and the joy of that. When we asked Ng JM what she felt she needed to do, she knew what she had to do. She gave us very specific things that she knows she needs to do so that she can make it to church and renew her covenants. Anyway, the point of the story is that this lesson was a miracle, and having her former YW leader there to encourage her and help her understand was so important. After a long time of teaching someone and not seeing any change, this lesson was truly amazing. Wow.

Anyway, that's a lot of specifics about our investigators and their lessons, but that's really what this work is all about. These people are amazing. I hope I can do my small part to help them. Of course, I'm also realizing how much I am learning on this mission as well.

And my companion, the amazing Sister Yiu, has been a wonderful person to share these experiences with. She's a spiritual giant, I tell you.

Last of the news, today for a Zone Activity we went to the beaches in Tuen Mun (like before, remember?) and had a BBQ and played frisbee, etc. We basically just got this wonderful relaxing time to play around and act like kids, which we really are, just with big responsibilities. It is always uplifting to be with other missionaries and to just have a happy time. Oh, this whole mission is amazing and happy. It just goes by too fast, is all! Seriously. Anyway, that's what the pictures are from.

Well, family, I love you all so much. You are one of the main reasons I am on this mission.

Love,
Sister Nielsen
