Well, hello there wonderful family! Happy Fathers' Day Daddy! I
love you loads. Heaps. . . .
I hope I can tell you everthing fully from this week, because it was a lot. Oh my. But it was good.
Here is the summary:
Jau Taai, the old popo we met paak muning? She's progressing! We
went to visit her and she had her Book of Mormon out on the bed - she'd
read the parts we gave her! Oh how I have hopes for that lovely woman.
She's got character.
Also, we've gotten to visit Poon Jimuih several times this week
because her helper is out of town for these two weeks, so we're going to
visit her a bit more often and keep her company. In fact, every time we
see her, SHE uplifts US. She is an amazing example to us. She counts
down the days till she can go to church. Yup.
This Sunday, we also had a new investigator come to church. Her
name is Apple ( love the names here, love 'em) and she is from Thailand.
Her English and her Cantonese are a little iffy, but she is so prepared
to hear the gospel. We met her when she came to our English class, and
she has taken a fancy to us. We were able to teach her how to pray
somehow, and she has been praying over her lunch since then. Cute, huh?
We also tried to get her a Thai BoM but ended up giving her the D and C
accidentally....Sigh. The Lord will help us out. We really need a
translator for her. But she came to church anyway! And will come again!
Hopefully we can get her husband to come next and actually translate...
And now. Well. Remember how we left off with Stellar not able to
get baptized yet? Well, we fasted with her, and then we went with a
member to go and visit her mother together. We went on Saturday morning.
It was a...dynamic...visit. Her mom was pretty calm for a while, but by
the end basically ended up yelling at Stellar and saying not nice
things to her. I've never had to sit through a parent saying things like
that to a child, and I'd rather not again. The basic issues are 1. Her
mom doesn't want Stellar to stop baai sahning. 2. She and Stellar's
relationship is having issues. That's actually the bigger issue. Anyway,
it was rather difficult, but Stellar still has faith, optimism, and
determination to keep going. She's amazing. We will see her tomorrow.
But, as if in combat to this setback, Heavenly Father immediately gave
us another amazing miracle. Right after seeing Stellar, and going back
to the church and bawling for a little bit, we had a member come and
introduce her friend to us. She had scheduled to see us. This woman is
so prepared, and evidence of the influence a child can have on a parent.
Her son joined the church when he was little, and now he's on a
mission. This mom, named Bessie, has seen her son's change and wants to
know why. And she's prepared to find out. In the first 5 minutes of the
lesson, no kidding, she was in tears from feeling the Spirit. Wow. Her
older sister is also a member. So Heavenly Father is merciful.
I know that this is His work, and I'm so honored to get to participate. I love you all and I'm so grateful for your support.
Hey, did you know that today is my halfway mark in my mission? Time flies.
I love you all! Take care!
Love,
Sister Sarah
