SO the best things ever happened this week (and last). I got to talk with all of you on the phone! Oh how I love you all. It was strange to think this time that it was my last such call home before I am home (aiyah) but that's ok. I am so grateful for such a wonderful family which I get to be a part of. You're the best! You are the thing I'm most looking forward to about coming home. Otherwise I might not (tee hee). Just kidding. I have to. Sigh.
But anyway, my time is running short cuz I spent lots of time writing to a certain sister of mine whom I love to pieces and who is going to the temple today!!!!! (I'm so happy for you Bethy! You're gonna knock Russia's socks off :))
So here is the summary:
Last week we went as a zone and with some members to go caroling on the street here in Hong Kong. We did this as a way to get to stop and talk with more people about the gospel. And we found this amazing, prepared girl named Vicky, who is in high school and is super sweet and wants to learn more about this church! Yay! We are just hoping she will find time to see us. She's already seen us once afterward :)
On Monday we had a huge mission Xmas activity that was the best ever. I feel as if I am amongst family and friends by now, since I actually know all these missionaries by now. We had a gift exchange, a huge meal (roast pig!), a choir performance (it was great) and some spiritual thoughts. It was awesome.
Then on Xmas day, I got to call all of you! Then we headed off to Hung Shui Kiu chapel because we had a choir performance there for their open house. And I got to see a lot of my Yuen Long friends! All the members there are so dear to my heart. It was truly a Xmas spent with family and friends :) We then rushed back to Tai Wai because we had a Xmas party there, to which we had invited tons of investigators! And we had several miracles happen. On the train there, a girl got on the train, saw our name tags, and immediately asked if we were going to a Xmas party and if she could come with us! We said yes :) She had been found by some elders a few weeks ago, but they hadn't been able to set up a time to see her again, but she hoped to. And she lives in Tai Wai. And she's always wanted to go to a Xmas party. So perfect. She had to leave early, but what a miracle! We're going to see her again on Monday.
The other miracle is that we randomly called some former investigators to invite them to the party, and I got ahold of one lady named Coco, and she brought her whole family to the party! We are going to be able to visit this whole family again in January :) Yay!
The only unfortunate part of the evening was when we missionaries got to perform our musical number during the party and we found out that a member was going to be accompanying us on harmonica (surprise!) and he chose an entirely different key than us. Ah well. Almost beats "Hark All ye Nations" instead of "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," don't you think? Tee hee. No matter.
Well, the only other news is that we have been going street contacting pretty much every day to build up our area, and we keep seeing miracles. We are now praying that these people will see us again. For example, just talking on the train today, we got 4 phone numbers from different people, and one girl asked us as we got off "was it God who told you to talk to me?" Answer, "YES!"
Well, I just want to share my testimony that I know that God loves us and cares about us. He has not forgotten any of us, and He has restored His full gospel to make sure that we all know that. This church is His, and He is guiding it today. Isn't that the best news? And even better than that, God has given us His son so that we can overcome our imperfections and become even better people. And that's why we're here on this earth! I know that this is true, and I've seen it change lives, including my own.
Well, I love you all. Merry Christmas again!
Love,
Sister Nielsen
Here are some photos from our mission Xmas activity. Here are all of my mission trainees and their trainees :), my MTC group, and two roast pigs (yum). It was a good party.
Here is our mission choir who sang at the Hung Shui Kiu chapel open house on Xmas day (it sounded pretty good, miraculously).
We went caroling as a zone with some members. It was extremely successful to find people to share the gospel with. Yay!
