Hello Lovely People!
How are you? I am well, thank you.
As for me, things have been very good, and full of lots
of hard work. We were pretty exhausted by last night, and we're
grateful for P-day today. Here's the thing: if we're going to have a
family baptized in the next transfer, this is going to take a
pure miracle and we're going to have to start teaching this family this
week. If that's going to happen, we're going to need to FIND and
SCHEDULE this family soon. So, this is the time of the real proving of
faith. It's exciting. We've been working as hard as we can as a result,
and that is why we were so tired.
Luckily, Sister Palmer is a really good sport and
wonderful to be around even when exhausted. I think we literally ran
across Tai Wai at least twice this week between all our finding and
appointments. Fortunately, we both like running, too :)
So, what has happened since Wednesday when I last
emailed? We finally got people to church!!!!! That was the biggest
thing. Lulu came to church for the first time (she has her baptismal
date for next month, and so this is important that she comes. She was a
little nervous at first since she's a little shy, but I think she was
more comfortable by the end. She's so sweet. And so are our members. So
it works out. We also had an investigator named Lo Jm come to church.
She's 50 or so and very boisterous and has been out of work for over 6
months. She's the former investigator we miraculously found back over a
month ago. She's coming to FHE at the Bishop's tonight, and we're
excited. She will love it.
Ammon, on the other hand, still hasn't come to church. Right before
church started he called us to say that last night his Sunday school
teacher asked him to finish the course he's been attending before he
comes to our meetings. It's because this teacher is leaving in two weeks
and this course is right during our meetings. Sigh. Well, I have faith
that Ammon will make time eventually, but it might take longer than I
thought. He's a good kid. But sometimes I have to remind myself that
he's only 13.
So, these past few days have also been full of lots of
finding...with some exciting results. We went finding in this little
village thing on the far side of the highway (there is no way I can
adequately describe these villages. They are full of shacks and dogs and
probably look like South America a bit, except that there are little
Buddhist shrines here and there. Anyway, we sisters rarely go to them
unless prompted (or unless we serve in Yuen Long), but we felt we should
go there. After about 3 hours there with mixed results (some people who
REALLY werent interested, and one who just freely gave out the family
phone number), we finally had a BIG miracle. We were walking on the
outskirts of the village and this cute little family of 6 (4 kids, all
under the age of 12) were walking by. They don't actually live in the
area, but were passing by. We were able to chat with them and they were
really open and welcoming to us, even the father. A FAMILY OF 6! Anyway,
we haven't been able to schedule them yet, but we are really hoping to
be able to visit this week. Ooo, so exciting.
Speaking of families, we thought we were going to be
able to teach Coco and her family yesterday (the Christmas party
attendees) but it didn't quite work out. After asking if we could visit
her and her family at their home and share a message, she took us
instead to go visit a neighbor girl who she thinks needs the
gospel...luckily we were able to still teach Coco and her daughter, as
well as this girl, but it was kinda a funny confusion. We got a
wonderful referral, though, and we are very grateful for this!
So, we're still praying our hearts out and finding as
much as we can so that we can have this miracle happen. In sum, things
are going well.
I love you all so very much, and I
love Heavenly Father. It is a divine privilege to get to serve Him
full-time and to dedicate myself to this week. It's very happy, too. The
best thing is seeing how true and how powerful this gospel really is.
Love ya!
Love,
Sister Nielsen
